About the Exam
CBSE PMT is one of the main Pre-medical exams of India. It is conducted by
the CBSE, New Delhi. There are 1600 seats. Usually, candidates up to 2800 rank get selected. CBSE has 15% reservation in all the medical colleges
across India which are funded by the Government of India, except in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir (AP and J&K candidates are not
allowed to attempt the exam). The forms are available in October and
there are two examinations:
1. The preliminary examination in the first week of April
2. The final exam conducted in mid May.
The preliminary exam consists of
an objective test of 200 questions. The exam is for three hours. Three marks are given for each question and
there is negative marking too. One mark is cut for wrong answers.
The final exam is a non-objective type of
100 questions in each paper to be answered in two hours each.

Two hour paper: 20 questions: 100 marks: 5 marks per question
2. Biology
Two hours paper:20 questions: 100
marks 5 marks per question
Merit is based on this exam not on the prelim exam. Those who are selected in the prelim exam can appear for the
final exam.
